Step-by-Step Instructions
- Brew the jasmine tea. Steep jasmine tea in hot water for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the tea type. Remove the tea bags or strain the loose leaf tea.
- Cool the tea. Let the tea cool slightly, then chill it in the fridge or pour it over ice if you want to cool it quickly.
- Cook the tapioca pearls. Bring water to a boil and cook the tapioca pearls according to the package instructions. Stir so they do not stick together.
- Make the brown sugar syrup. In a small pan, combine brown sugar and water. Simmer until glossy and slightly thickened.
- Coat the pearls. Drain the cooked tapioca pearls and add them directly to the brown sugar syrup. Stir until they are shiny and coated.
- Prepare the milk tea. Mix chilled jasmine tea with milk. Add condensed milk or extra syrup if you want it sweeter and creamier.
- Decorate the glass. Spoon brown sugar pearls into the bottom of a tall glass. Drizzle extra syrup along the inside of the glass for a pretty streaked look.
- Add ice and milk tea. Fill the glass with ice, then pour the jasmine milk tea over the top. Stir gently before drinking.
Healthy Tips & Daily Wellness
Jasmine milk tea with brown sugar pearls is a sweet café-style treat, so the easiest way to make it lighter is to control the syrup. Start with fewer brown sugar pearls and less syrup, then add more only if needed.
For a lighter version, use unsweetened oat milk, almond milk, or low-fat milk. You can also skip the condensed milk and let the brown sugar pearls provide most of the sweetness.
If you want more tea flavor and less sweetness, brew the jasmine tea stronger and use less milk. If you want a creamier dessert drink, use whole milk or oat milk with a splash of condensed milk.
For a caffeine-friendly routine, enjoy this drink earlier in the day or use decaf jasmine tea. You can also make a smaller serving with fewer pearls for a lighter afternoon treat.
