Part 1: The Truth Begins to Unfold
Ethan stood frozen in the bathroom doorway, a towel draped over his shoulders. The color drained from his face as he looked at me.
The woman frowned and looked between us.
“Honey… you know the realtor?”
I smiled calmly.
“I’m not the realtor,” I said. “I’m Ethan’s wife.”
Silence filled the room.
The woman stared at me, then turned back to Ethan.
“What is she talking about?”
Ethan rubbed his forehead.
“Please… both of you, let me explain.”
I reached into my purse and pulled out my driver’s license and a copy of our marriage certificate.
“We’ve been married for eight years,” I said quietly.
The woman took the papers with trembling hands. Her face went pale.
“You told me your divorce was finalized two years ago,” she whispered.
Ethan couldn’t answer.
For the first time since I walked into the house, he had nothing to say.
